A great Christmas party was enjoyed by fifty of the Rock River Valley Chapters members. We met Saturday, December 18th, at Maxson Manor in Oregon, IL. From 12 noon until 1:00 everyone socialized and ate the Manor’s delicious orange glazed rolls. After the blessing offered by Ray Meyers at 1:00, each table by way of the lucky number, went through the buffet line which included ham, roast beef, meat loaf, chicken, potatoes, vegetables, and a salad bar.
At 2:00 our three guests, J. T. Nolan, his wife Donna, and eleven year old son Stephen performed for us. For the next hour we heard 20 to 25 Christmas songs, some were sung, some were played, some were sing alongs, but all were thoroughly enjoyed. The Nolan’s, of Winslow, Illinois, are very talented. J.T. not only sang with a beautiful voice but played the flute, saxophone, trumpet, a recorder and a wooden flute (not sure of its exact name.) His son did the percussion, and Donna did some accompaniment and sang.
Before heading home, exchange gifts were passed out and “most” went home pleased with what they received. It was a great celebration with good friends. The weather was good, the roads were dry, and everyone was home before dark. We couldn’t ask for more.
